Spark Plugs, Wires, Cap/Rotor and Fuel Filter: OEM or aftermarket?
Time for the 120k mile tune up. I need to replace the above things, and wanted to know if its going wtiht he stock replacement or an aftermarket. I have an h23 with I/H/E/Pulleys if it matters. So which are worth going OEM and which are worth going with an 'upgrade' if available? So far I am leaning towards stock everything except for wires. I dont know what wires are good, and if wires are even worthwhile.
Also are there any other mods that are worth doing while I am doing the 120k tuneup? I couldnt think of anything else that I have to replace.
Thanks in advanced,
Jordan

stock everything except the plug wires. go for something like ngk or msd. and as always, use ngk for plugs!

I'm sure we could get you a good deal on all of those things.
I'll email you when I have the right funds. Thanks.
brought this from the dead using search... anyway
i'm in a similar situation. i'm doing a tune up. i'm at 95xxx so far i just bought the following:
carquest ngk v power spark plugs

seafoam and carquest pcv valve:

and autozone fuel filter:
now all i need is the wires, cap, and rotor.
1st. where do i get the ngk wires, since autozone don't carry them, and carquest didn't have'm in stock. just go to honda?
2nd. i have an injen short ram intake. should i just go to autozone and buy the air filter cleaner for K&N?
3rd, i just filled up my gas tank, should i go pour 1/3 of the seafoam in the tank now? and where else do i apply the seafoam? do i put about another 1/3 of the bottle in the pcv valve? and then next week when my gas is all gone. do the full tune up?

1. I would have went with the OEM Honda PCV valve if it were my car, but the AutoZone one should be fine.
2. I would have went with an OEM Honda fuel filter as well, but the AutoZone one should be okay. It's definitely better than a dirty one.
3. You can get the NGK spark plug wires from Summit Racing Equipment. Their phone number is 1-800-230-3030. Their website is http://www.summitracing.com. They cost like $20.00 or something like that. Personally, I'd go with the MSD or Magnecor wires because they have less resistance than the NGK wires.
4. Many people will probably disagree with me on this, but I'd get the MSD distribytor cap over the OEM Honda one. If you ever take the time to compare the two, you will notice that the electrical connections in the MSD cap are of much better quality than the OEM cap. The connections in the MSD cap are made out of brass, which is more resistant to corrosion than the pot-metal used in the OEM cap. Brass also conducts electrical current better.
5. The K&N air filter should be just fine. K&N flters are known to be of very high quality.
