Default b serious

hey i have a b18c1 block with a b16a2 head. i blew 1 of my third cylinder exhaust valve on the original b18c1 head so instead of getting into valve work a buddy of mine have a b16 head that he wasnt using, so i traded him straight up my messed b18 head for his b16. my parents found someone to do the work because i was goin to school 6 hours away and couldnt work on it myself or i would have.

well when i picked the car up when it was "done", i noticed it was running like quite the bag of s**t, so i checked my wires and buddy had my dizzy spun 180 and the wires in the wrong spot. i spun the dizzy and put the wires in the proper sequence but it still kinda ran like crap especially when it was cold. i was throwin codes too, so i got my buddys code reader and it was saying miss fires across the board and random miss fire. so i erased the codes and started it up again. it through codes but this time 1 and 4 miss fire and random miss fire.

but the end off the weekend was near and i had to get back to school on the monday. i took the chance and drive it 6 hours non spot from petawawa to hamilton. once i got to my old mans house i popped the hood to see if there was something missing or something right. well once i popped her open i notice fresh oil coming out from the head gasket and quite a bit. but since it was my only car i had no choice but to drive it unfortunitly. i just kept the oil up. a couple days go by and im checking how much has exited my head gasket and my tranny is starting to become pretty filthy. and now coolant is becoming visible around the upper rad hose coolant neck on the head (because honda gave me an unfinished coolant neck) no bleeder screw hole or screw and no place for a rubber gasket to sit.

so now because i put my 96 integra gsr in the ditch in the fall i have just strted pulling it out to get it ready to swap it into my 90 crx si. i notice once i got the head off that one of my 3rd cylinder exhaust vale has 2 lil chucks out of it and my 4th cylinder exhaust valves r full of this white power and my headgasket had a rip in the black coating.

what do you think happened when they put this thing back together? i brought the head myself to a machine shop and had it checked for flatness but i never had it resurfaced because the machinist said it was perfect. you think maybe the timing was off? it couldnt be the dizzy cuz its brand new not even a refurb. i dont know but i just notice that bunk valve and now im not sure what to do?

if anyone could give me some advise on how to build this b16/b18 it would be much appreciated. im hoping to have this dropped in the rex by the end of the summer.
thanks
Justin

i would like to know what r the differences in the coolant and oil passages in the b16 head from the b18 head?
what head gasket should i use? a b18 or b16? i had a b16 head gasket on there. and why one of my exhaust valves in my third cylinder keep getting chewed up. that 2 heads now that its happened to. and also what would cause both my 4th cylinder exhausts valve to be full of this chalky substance. i know that im losing power with this head on this block. but since i need new valvetrain again what could i go with to bring up some power without having to change my pistons and rods. i also have a 4-1 dc sport ceramic header on the motor, will it fit in the crx with the b series swap?

dude no offense but your more annoying then one of those damn little lap dogs. i cant answer most of your questions im not going to lie but let me ask you something and just give me a simple one maybe two word reply here are you planning on putting another B series in the car? if so then yes your heads will fit. oh what may be the problem here is
1. your timing could be off.
2. your valves weren't set right.
3 your pistons weren't set right
4 your just a damn idiot
as for your head WHAT do you have it on now? chances are that if you swap it into the CRX then its gonna work. may have some clearance issues but nothing major.

if your talking about a b18c head and a b16 head they will bolt up no problem. the diffrences are
-Intake bolt pattern
-Combustion chamber atyle B18C is a quench style
-B18C has better LMA's
i know there are more but im tired.
as far as head gasket any b-series VTEC headgasket will work and get OEM not cometic or any other

why r some ppl on this site such dicks. if you didnt notice the word "Noob" under my name. i dont know much about these things aight! and the only way anyone is goin to learn anything is if some one tells ya or someone shows ya. or of course by error but that can get awfully expensive especially working with internal parts. so F you Shane21085. yankee putz. anyhow since i am new to this could i ask what a quench style combustion chamber is and what LMAs are. i never touched my valves or my pistons cuz i didnt put the thing together. my parents back home got it done while i was in school. i was wonder whether or not to use a b16 or 18 headgasket because the OEM b16 headgasket started leaking after 400 kms. i didnt even vtec it or nothing. the b16 head has stock valves, springs, and retainers and the b18c1 block is completely stock. no one that i know of messed with any setting. the b16 head came off one well maintained running motor and was put on mine block.

People are dicks because these questions (however vague yours may be) have been covered countless times. Try taking a look at the build threads that are in the FAQ that is stickied at the top of this forum. There should be more than enough info in there to keep you reading/researching for a few days. This forum is meant to be a knowledge base, where technical info is added to be researched and archived, not a chatter board where the same 5 questions are asked over and over every single day.

To help you with a few of your questions. LMA's = lost motion assembly's.
All vtec b-series head gaskets are the same. i.e. B16, gsr and itr
Head gasket could have leaked because the shop did any of the following reasons,
1. they reused the headgasket
2. they reused the stock head bolts
3. didn't torque the head bolts properly
4. didn't resurface the head
5. didn't resurface the block

Stock valves are fine for most builds. If you are going to remove the b16 head to replace the headgasket I would suggest at the least getting a valve job to ensure your valves are sealing, and resurface the head to ensure the head gasket has a fresh surface to seal with as well. Have a competent person inspect the block surface as well.
