attn 2006 Civic EX 4dr owners - any problems?
Looking into purchasing an 06 ex sedan, but I see in consumer reports that they are reporting engine and suspension problems in the 2006 civic, so they didnt give it the ratings I would hope for. Any problems?

One of my cars is a 2006 Civic EX Sedan w/Auto. It has 16,700 miles and has had no problems. It gets mid 30's mpg in the city, and low 40's on extended trips.
If I were to upgrade anything on this car, it would be the suspension. It handles like a small boat with lots of side to side motion.
Another of my cars, is an 08 SI Sedan. Its suspension is firm. It has 2,000 miles on it and it gets in the low 20's mpg in the city and mid 20's on the highway. I expect it to improve over time.
These are my 6th and 7th Honda/Acura vehicles. I have discovered that their mpg improves after they have been driven more miles.
I hope that you find a car for sale by owner. For a resonable price expectation, go to www.cudirect.com Then look to the right of the page as you scroll down. Click on the Black Book logo. You can enter the type of car that you are considering and you will see the Loan Value and several other values. If you buy a car from a dealership, you will see that he has marked it up between 2 and 3 thousand dollars (above the loan value). They have to make a profit and keep their lights turned on.

I have a 2006 civic ex sedan and it is great the only things that I have to complain about is a vibration at idle while in gear. The car has had the rear upper control arms replaced due to a bulletin. The great thing is the mileage is in the mid 30's on the highway and low 30's in town. As far as handling if you are just using it as a daily driver it is great, if you plan on performance and handling upgrades pay a little extra and get the SI. I haver had civics for a while now and each one has been great.
I hope you find what you like.

My wife has an '06 EX with auto trans. She has over 50 K on it so far. She averages about 34 mpg in mixed driving with a high of 41.5 on a trip I took with it just before she took it away from me. We have had no problems with it other than the original tires going at about 20 K. We replaced them with a set of Cooper performance tires and we are very happy with them for daily driving.
