Default removing r12 from an unmovable car?

i have an 89 dx that i recently found out has a bent frame after i removed the front cross member, and need some advice on what to do about removing the refridgerant from the a/c system. i plan on removing all the parts and installing them in my 88 std that came factory w ac but all parts but the condensor core is misssing. when the car was origonaly parked a year ago the a/c system blew COLD (no windows or doors on the car and it still cooled the cabin air temp.)

i know that i will need a new drier and a complete gasket kit (both are unexpensive parts), and would like to keep my a/c system r12 if possible (i'm told by a bunch of ford guys it is, since it's colder and is designed for it) but have searched and read info on properly converting to r134a.

thanks for the help guys!!

R12 is also detrimental to the atmosphere and is the reason we now use R134.
Despite what a lot of people may tell you, R12 systems don't need "converion" kits. You just need the proper adapters to refill with R134. Everything else is reuseable.
However, your issue with not being able to move the car worries me. I'm not sure how you'll be able to properly recover the R12 without taking it to a shop.

well worst case scenario an get get an auto transport from work (i work at uhaul) and just tow it to an ac shop on the way to the scrap yard. i suppose that is the best idea. i am no tree hugger, but as far as releasing chemicals into the atmosphere that don't need to be released i'm against that.

what i meant by the conversion is just the two fitting adaptors, a new drier and the proper compressor oil... right?
