I have a gsr trans already torn apart with 89k and I was eventually going to build my gsr and try for 500hp. What can I do to make this trans take it and how much you think it will cost, and where can I get it built to take it.

 

Get a LSD. Nothing else is needed.

a nice lsd would be the first step, if you want to spend more money after that you can always upgrade your gearset

 

Nothing is going to make it "stronger" IMO but some heat treatings and even those have not conclusively proven themselves to be better than nothing at all.

MFactory has a nice aftermarket syncro'd gearset, but its pricey.

I prefer the helical OBX LSD over factory unless your tranny came with lsd. With a perfect install I never had any problems on my GSR tranny. All you really need to do it check your seals, pinions and gears for wear. replace as needed. basically rebuild the tranny. you should be good!
