Default Proper way to fix shift boot (OEM boot and ****)

The rubber band trick is ghey. What's the proper way? A heat gun and trying to force it onto the OEM **** did not work.

Ideas/Links?

If you are refering to getting the boot to mate with the ****, maybe add a washer system to make a collar for it to hold the boot up near the threads on the shifter, then screw the **** on.

Hot-glue has worked surprisingly well so far. 2+ weeks and holding on two different cars. Just be careful and don't be messy.
