Default Strut Bar questions

IDK if this is the right forum but I got a JDM strut bar,

I have a 95 civic hatch so I would have to drill holes, besides the hassle to install, I was wondering what the difference would be between that JDM one and one that uses the strut tower bolts, if there is one.

There is no real difference between this one and the ones that mount to the tophat studs besides mounting locations.

That "JDM" strut tower brace is the same thing that came stock on Type Rs, Del Sol VTECs, and EK Sis. Nothing special, and quite flimsy. I take comfort in a solid strut tower brace (none of those hinged things) that mounts directly to the strut studs. No sense in hooking it to the fender wall when what you're trying to reinforce is the strut mounts, know what I mean.

ITR shock tower braces do not look like that. That's the OEM bar that came on GS-R's, del Sol VTEC's, and 99-00 Si's.

Also there's really no point in bracing the upper shock mounts anyway, since the shocks are not subjected to lateral loads like on cars with Mac strut-type suspension. The best brace attaches to the upper control arm bolts, which would directly brace the load-bearing portion of the suspension.

It's amazing how much sense this stuff makes when you finally realize it. I believe that may be the reason Honda moved the UCA mounts from the inside wall of the strut tower to the sides on the EK generation--the sides support the load better instead of the inside wall, which could bow under load.

Kinda makes you wonder why nobody makes a bar that bolts there. I just went and had a look and it doesn't look too awful complicated. Some clever bends and a triangle or two...

That bar is not "JDM" bro...

I have the same bar and to be honest, its better than 90% of the strut bars out there. Its solid 1 piece.

Im not sure if EG's have them, but my EK came with the holes marked so I just had to drill and mount the bar.

Heres an old pic of my bar for reference.

the OEM Si/GSR/Delsolvtec front tower bar really does nothing performance wise, i've had one before and its all for show purposes. My ebay front strut bar works better.

Can you prove this? I'd really like to hear your reasoning behind this statement if you don't mind.

One of the oldest aftermarket shock tower braces available for 90's Hondas were made just that way, from Neuspeed.

I didn't notice any difference on my stock EK sedan. I heard the rear one tightens the rear end a bit, but I lost the rear one somewhere, so I can't tell you
