That is not a good idea at all. Sway bars have to be made with forged steel that can withstand the enormous flexing force of the car's suspension. With coventional household/garage equipments, I doubt that you can make one even if you try. Now, in case you mistakenly meant to say strut-bar, the answer is yes. I have made severals in the past with mostly heavy industrial aluminum.

are you serious? forged steel? try stamped steel. a lot of our oem sway bars are hollow tube anyways.

i can't say for sure how thick the the walls are, but if you can you could probably use a solid bar and bend it. the only problem i can see is if you mess up the length. measure twice cut once here. the end links, just drill a hole through it like a oem bar would be, and use the stock oem hardware. or you could go the route of polyurethane.

its posiable.

2xxx series steel should suffice, and the most important thing is to HAVE IT HEAT TREATED!!! or it will just bend, with no spring-like quality. if you use a high carbon content steel it would more likely break under load. and hollow>solid for many reasons.

with the time and effort required to make one, Id just buy one. theyre pretty cheap.

you could go to a junk yard and measure multiple sway bars, you might find one that is close to the correct dimensions

yeah, they are cheap. and thinking about my last visit to the junk yard. they are all pretty much universal. the only problems i could think of would be the end links, if it wasn't long enough or to short.

the rears would be easier to convert imop. the only problem i would see with the front is if the center section (were the U hump is) would clear your exhaust/cat, and shifter.
