Default B16 head with a GSR block

Im getting a B16A3 head for my gsr for going with the poor mans type r. and i was researching it etc. the gsr pistons seem to be the downfall in the way of compression. so is there anything i can do to bump it up a little till i can get some jdm b16 pistons and some other stuff? i know to get a thinner head gasket. but is there anything else? and what intake mani is best. B16 or GSR? thanks guys.

If you all ready have a GSR head I wouldnt waste time/money on a poormans R setup. Just swap out your GSR pistons for some ITR or B16 pistons to bump your compression.

LOL...yeah....keep your GS-R head....or there's always milling the head if you're set on using the PR3 casting.

You haven't researched this much, have you?

Transient response should be better with a stock GSR head vs. stock B16 head, holding all other things equal.

The gsr intake manifold doesn't bolt on to a b16 head

i would do way more research before doing what your doing... b16 head has great flow... but the GSR head has "better" combustion chamber characteristics do some more searching on here im sure you will find out...

The valves might just need adjustment, that could be why they are making noise. Swapping to a B16 head just doesn't make sense, even if your are getting it for free or coming up on some extra cash cause you're gonna need to get an intake manifold, new head gasket, seals, etc.
