EF Fan problem
so i just bought another ef sedan and for some reason the fan to blow heat/AC only blows on level 3 and 4. i dont think it blows at all on 1 and 2 or just very very lightly that i cannot tell. has anybody had this problem and fixed it?
yes.
There is a stepped resistor on the top of the fan that goes bad and causes 2 of the levels to not work. replace it and your levels magically come back. it is #5

well. I could say i am sure that it will work, but the ball is in your court to verify it. I'm sure the Helms manual has testing procedures, so you can test it according to what expected behavior is, and if it fails, you will have your answer. For what its worth, it is a part that commonly wears out on these cars.
If there is not test procedures in the manual, which there might not be, then you should test voltage output of the resistor to the blower motor for the different positions. if any of the positions dont output voltage when they should, then you have narrowed it to a problem with the resistor or a problem with the switch that provides power to the resistor. You can then check that by testing on the resistor input side for voltage output from the dash control. If you aren't getting voltage from the dash control, then your dash control is the issue. If you are getting most likely the same voltage in all 4 positions, then it is unequivocally the resistor.

I've done a write up on this before, It's just the smaller coils on the resister have blown, you can remove them and twist the coils back together if you want. It'll save you having to buy another one for a while.
^^ i read up on that write up last week on efcivicsedan and its a real good write up if im not mistaken if its yours. i havent messed with it yet but i am in the next couple days
