has anybody tried? i know you are supposed to use ac/dc tig have heard can be succesful weldin dc with helium just wantin to know

 

Yes. You need ultra high purity helium and laboratory grade cleanliness on your parts to be welded. It's also typically only done on very thick pieces of aluminum as well.

 

wantin to weld some intercooler pipes? not lookin for perfection im gonna grind em smooth anyway so it looks like one piece

 

Not gonna happen.

 

DC is not the way to go with thin AL. Also, DC is best when done in a chamber or Helium charged room. Why not just do AC like every other normal person does?

Tried it on my new welder just for kicks...total ****. Couldn't even get any real metal bonding to speak of. Youd be better off either paying someone to tig it right, or even mig welding it with aluminum wire if you have a mig welder, and dont mind grinding.
