hey guys my girlfriend drive a bone stock em1 si and she asked me to drive it around because she said it was running funny. and it is.

here is what i know:

while in 1st gear under WOT it sounds like it wants to go, but all i hear is the intake making way more noise than the stock intake should make, and around 5k i hear a combo of a rattle snake rattling and hissing, i know its wack, then when vtec hits it actually feels like a loses power and it becomes ridiculously loud at that point, plz help

what the oil level in the car? vtec wont kick in if the oil is low...and if it has been low and continue to be driven this way then it has prob phucked some **** up. also, cleaning your IM might help with the hesitation. my ej8 does that **** and i cleaned it and it helped some...it used to be HORRIBLE, now its just bad. lol

 

lol your not very good at giving a good description. maybe a video or better explaination of your problem.

 

yea the oil level is full, what are the symptoms of a clogged cat? ,maybe the air im hearing is pressure build up escaping?

 

possible vacuum leak? idk about a clogged cat...would be worth looking into

 

where and how would i check a vacuum leak? it seriously feels like there is a plastic bag over the intake and a banana in the exhaust and sounds like im running an open intake manifold.

 

well this might not help but it would be beneficial to gas mileage and some performance and it might fix your problem. take your IM off and clean it. lol i cleaned it with black magic engine degreaser and took it to a car was and pressure washed all the runners. there is prob alot of buildup in there. it will help with the hesitation. also, check your dizzy and all your plugs to see if they are bad. it could be a miss and a plug could be fouled. be sure to check for arcs in the plug wires too. just some easy things to do to start off.

 

How's the timing? What position is your dizzy set at?
