Help!!! '06 Civic LX CAI - CE Light & Stalling
I recently purchased a 2006 Civic LX with an automatic trans.
Today my boyfriend and his friend installed a cold air intake on the car. It was a no-name e-bay brand which like everyone always seems to say "they all do the same thing".
The first thing we noticed is the throttle delay which after searching the forums seems common after an intake install on these cars without a tune.
Unfortunately another problem has occured; after the car was driven twice the car is now throwing a check engine light (haven't diagnosed it yet; will tomorrow) and the car even stalled at a stop sign (it's auto lol).
Has anyone heard about anything like this or know what may be causing it?
If so...HELP!!!
Looking for an easy fix.

A. Check the MAF. Is there a MAF slot on the CAI? If not, that will cause it.
B. The ECU could need to be reset. You can disconnect and reconnect the battery.
The throttle delay could be due to the confusion of the ECU as to the whereabouts of the MAF.

The MAF is hooked up to the new intake. There was a slot for it to be installed.
Will try disconnecting the battery in the morning. Thanks.
Keep the help coming!

let the car idle for like 10 or 15 minutes so the ecu will recognize the intake. then drive it around easily for a day or so.
also check and make sure everything is nice and sealed. hoses and tubes etc...

check your hose like nighthawkr18 said. make sure that the MAF is clean...may have gotten debris in it. when you disconnect the battery, leave it disconnected for a couple min and then reconnect it. if you do it too fast sometimes it wont reset the ECU.
How did it go with your trouble. I've been having the same problems. the stalling and sputtering went away after a couple of days gonna disconnect my battery today to see if the check engine light will stay off.

i've had a couple people who put CAI's on their cars actually break their MAF sensor. what was the check engine light all about? i can give you more help when you get that. i'm pretty sure autozone will still pull check engine lights for free if you take it down to them.

Make sure the MAF is installed correctly. The wires coming out of the top of the MAF sensor should go toward the driver's side, then under the intake and back toward the motor. I nearly put mine in backwards when I did my intake... Mine is an '06 LX auto. Never had any c/e light or stalling problems, intake has been in for almost a year.
I have a 2003 Civic LX, automatic, that I had bought new and is completely stock, which is having the same problem. It actually gets worse with the a/c running. Autozone did the test and came up with a P1427 error, which I cant find a reference to, and stated that it was caused by a loose gas cap or a vacuum something not working. I replaced my gas cap but that did not fix the problem. I am going back on monday and have them redo the test and try the other part, and will post if it fixes the problem.
well either your maf sensor is on backwards (common mistake),
or your ecu needs to learn the fuel trim for your climate.
i remember cobb saying to drive 10 miles, then shut off the car,
then drive 10 miles again etc.
you shouldnt have to do it more than 6 or 7 times
