Im 16 and thinking about getting a Honda S2000. I've been driving stick shift for about 1 1/2 years so its no problem driving 6 gears for me. Should i get one? Im into the RWD JDM import cars. Should i get one?

Whats the good and bad about them.

Is this going to be your first rwd car? How mature are you? An S2000 is a car that you can lose control of very easily, so it's not for someone who is fairly immature on the roads. They are getting pretty cheap anymore, but try to avoid the '00 models as they have the plastic windows which go bad quickly. Alot of people will look down when a 16 year old wants to get an S2000, but it's just out of jealousy, so pay no attention to it. Go test drive one and see if you like it or not... I can't do that for you.

Well i have driven one several times before. My cousin has a 2006 S2k and i have driven it many times. So i already know what it is capable of doing.

Yeah i know about the whole plastic windows thats why im getting a AP2 with a hard top.

I got one when I was 17. But remember just because you can drove your cousins doesn't mean you know the dynamics of the. Go out there and test drive it to the fullest. Not by doing donuts or going fast in a straight line but actually learning the car like how it turns and when is the breaking point etc. Then tell us what it is capable of doing. As one of the posters mentioned the s2k is not an easy to car drive at it's limit.

Before I got mine I was racing go karts since the age of 13 competitively, and went to high performance driving schools that got me certified to go on circuits. I knew a lot about how the car performed hence the reason why I wanted one not because of the "cool" factor.

Another thing is insurance is going to eat your *** up no joke on that one.


The good:

go kart like feel handling
affordable
reliable for a sports car.

The bad:

HELLA small car on the inside
ppl still try to steal it for the seats
others will shunn you because you are so young rolling a s2k.

I actually agree with Kyle!

Seriously, your first car should be FWD and much safer then an S2000. I don't understand why parents would allow there child to get a car like this as there first car. If you insist on getting something RWD as your first car, and are into imports my I suggest an older S13 240sx.

I don't understand why you would come to a section dedicated to a car and ask if you should buy that car. I'm assuming it's probably going to be your parents buying it or helping you buy it so I would say no.

word!!!! ( 4yrs ago) we got on in at work so i took it out to see how fast etc it was and it owed me!! i got it sideways, almost hit a curb ha so yeah get to know the car before you get one..
