HID Retrofit in my EJ8!
i've been working on a hid retrofit this weekend. i am almost done with one headlight. i am using the h4 6000k hid kit i bought a while ago with 2005 tsx projectors. i wasn't feeling the thought of buying a d2s hid bulb since i had the h4 kit. by doing so i was able to keep the stock bulb mount on the reflector, giving the finished product a cleaner look.
here's the pics
stock depo headlight

lense off with the halogen sheild out and hid bulb in

before and after i grinded the d2s bulb mount down

test fitting the projector to make sure it would be level. also a shot of the stock headlight vs. the projector. there was no shroud on as well.

projector mounted

a test fit with the lense back on to check for clearance issues

the parts for the shroud i made with one already completed. .025 aluminum sheet and a ceiling fan adapter.

the shroud and projector painted and ready to be installed.

headlight reassembed back together. as well as another stock vs. retrofit

some really bad pics of the cutoff.

more pics as i progress.
thanks for looking.

Wow, I've never seen anyone grind off the d2s bulb mount to use the regular h4 lights! Doesn't that put the bulb further back from the projector though? I'd think you would lose some of the light that way.

eh I would have gotten new D2S 4300 K Philips bulb. You can pick up a brand new pair from www.theretrofitsource.com for only $75. How do you know the H4 kit bulbs are aligned properly the way actual D2S bulbs would be? And now you can't ever put any actual D2S bulbs in there when those kit bulbs take a dump on you.

The headlights look pretty good, though.

i think if you do a retro fit you should of went all the way.
Do you have any clear cut off line against the wall at 25 feet?
i want to see what width the h4 gives you

Hmm doesn't look too bad, cut off is a little on the soft side, probley due to the differnt focal point of the H4 hid bulb to the D2S bulb.
Good job on the retro!
