general question

Default general question

i was wondering i was planning on pulling my engine apart soon to put new piston rings in it and i was wondering would i have to do anything to the engine to put a bigger cam in it? or is it even possible? im still learning honda lol but any helpful input is appreciated thanks

In most cases it's recommended you upgrade the valve springs as well, to ones that can take the abuse of a high-lift cam. Retainers and such is up to you, people have mixed opinions of these.

Some aftermarket cams, if not very aggressive, may not require new springs. It varies by the setup.

if you go with anything larger then a honda manufactured cam i recomend using aftermarket springs and retainers just to be safe.

alright yea i was gonna send the head off in about a week and get it rebuilt with new springs and everything its a vtec head and im trying to figure out how much itll be to rebuild and port and polish it but okay thanks

I suppose the price would vary shop to shop. I do not have a general estimate myself.
