Wondering about 2010 Civic Si or Type-R?
Hey guys I was reading a bunch of old threads from 2007sayin the type-r was coming to the us in 2010. Well its coming around and haven't heard anything... no surprise. But I read another article time stamped on feb 2009 saying that is possibly will come in this later year. here the link and tell me what you think

I used to have a 2007 civic si sedan and traded it for a 2008 Evo X. But if there coming out with a real type-R your damn certain I'm gonna get that. let me know if you've heard any other rumors or anything.
thanks

Me thinks you should wait for an official press release from Honda instead of relying on the media and rumors.
Motor Trend Magazine, a well respected media source, had the Euro Type R (EP3) pegged for release in the states, a rumor which never saw the light of day.
With poor sales of the Mugen Si and the current state of the economy I think it's a safe bet Honda isn't bringing an R badged vehicle stateside for what will be the current models last production year.
What could help sales without risking profit losses is equipping an Si with all the HFP bolt on goodies, bumping power by 10Hp and marketing it as an SiR

Like everything take it with a grain of salt. I wouldnt say its not guna happen, but i think they will wait til the next Civic redesign to give the US a Type R, because with most redesigns by Honda they increase the hp of the car. With the increase in hp with the redesign theyll proly use that to spring board the potential Type Rs hp higher, and they wont have to worry about designing a new Type R right before the redesign comes. And i thought that Honda of American was going to release a HFP Civic Si that was basically a "tuned" US Si with the HFP parts, instead of a Type R.
But who knows its Honda
But who knows its Honda
i agree that the chances of ever seeing a ctr here are pretty slim. the rumors of the ctr coming to the u.s. started with the ek and they've never stopped. i wouldn't hold my breath; unless honda says something about it themselves, it's not coming here.

i don't think honda would even consider bring the ukdm civic type r here. its exterior looks aren't too popular here (it's supposed to look european, which apparently isn't liked here) and it handles worse than the jdm (sedan) version.

would be amazing.. especially with the mugen RR
If they released it here I believe it would be the sedan, considering over in europe the hatchback that replaced the ep9 did shitty..
regardless anyone know how much it is to ship a vehicle from japan to canada? Just curious, if they don't bring the CTR here might order one as a option?

Honda had a article a while ago stating that they are considering an HPF Civic

which is just lighter parts and junk . .ugly i know
i have a buddy at a dealership that has confirmed the hpf civic in news letters , has not seen anything on his shipment report for the 2010 models as a "R" , or the hpf civic yet
besides the mugen bombed here , some dealerships only selling one , and it sat for a while, no one wants to pay $30k for a civic
and a type-r to compete at that price point has LOTS to compete with next year
i doubt we will ever see it

besides this years R is not as nimble as our Si
I can see you live at the rumor mill and believe any 3rd party info you get because that is the biggest load of crap I have ever read, especially what is bolded.

only a fool would believe that.
even the fn2 is more nimble than the usdm si's.
haha i looked on wikipedia about the history of the torsion bar suspension and it was used on 1970's vw's and minivans hahaha wow i guess it must be bad.
I was lookin on hondas website where they show prototype cars, and there was a teaser there for an unknown car. makes me wonder. especially since they are not doing the s2000 past 2010 i beleive. idk if itll be a "Type R" but im hoping honda gives up another step up from the usdm Si. Im a year away from gettin outta college and when i get into my career i wana upgrade to the next step up from an Si.
THERE IS NO R FOR 2010.

Civic As the current body style debuted in the 2006 model year, the Civic received its MMC last year. In other words, minimal changes are expected for 2010. For those who are counting on the Civic getting an FMC next year, think again. The Civic has generally been on a 5-year model cycle, which means the FMC (full model change) would normally be expected for the 2011 model year, but we have heard through several sources that the 8th generation Civic's model cycle has been stretched a year and the introduction of the 9th generation Civic has been pushed back to the 2012 model year. The good news is, this gives Honda another year to consider bringing the brilliant Japanese-spec Civic Type R over, but will they? Sadly, the answer is likely "no".
Summary: Few changes until 2012 FMC.
Watch For: 6-year cycle for 8th generation Civic. Also watch for people expiring due to prolonged holding of breath waiting for a proper Civic Type R to make its way to our shores.
Available: August/September

Honestly as long as they make a successor to the S2000 i wouldnt mind if we didnt get a proper type r. Perhaps they would bring back the Prelude? i wish lol.
I am like most everybody else on hear, the chance are pretty much slim to none. Although i was very suprised that Nissan brought the Skyline GT-R in the states.
