Default 96 accord ex f22b1 intakw question

anyone know what removing either A or B from the stock intake would have any negative effects?

B is a weird shaped plastice piece held on by a clamp.

A is a plastic box with electrical connector and hose(going to the plenum). a small L hose connects the box(A) to the bottom of the main air tube using a clamp

When I pulled mine for the SRI, I left all vacuum hoses/electrical connection attached to box A and it sits underneath my current intake. As for B, nothing connected to it so it goes with the intake. All you need is a tube and a filter.

im not replacing the stock intake just looking for simple fixes due to lack in funds. in the future i will invest in a sri

i removed the rubber hose from A with the engine on to see if i could find a vacuum but i found none. what exactly does this part do?

is B in any way a resonator? would removing it and clogging the hole for it increase air flow at all?

removing (b) would be very stupid.

remove (A) but keep the solenoid attached to it, the box is useless.

oh sorry, just kidding, I thought (B) was the thing that the "B" was on, I didn't see the line that it was going to .

Neither of those will give you any problems, so long as you keep the solenoid hooked up that is in (A).

But in reality, if you're not replacing the intake with an aftermarket oneo, there's really no point in removing these two things from your stock intake, if you do that, your tubing will just have huge holes in it and be sucking air out of 3 different places, more than likely, making it even less efficient than it already is.

Buy a $10 ebay intake and stick a k&N filter on it an call it a day.

if i was gonna remove either of course i would plug the gaping holes that would be there to make sure only filtered air gets to my throttle body. the weird shaped thing just looked kinda stupid and pointless to me but maybe it somehow increases the air flow in the stock tube.

ok i guess i will wait til i get an sri/cai before i worry about either. but im still wondering what the purpose of A is in the workings of the intake. like i said before it has a hose going from the box all the way to the back top side of the air plenum along with the electrical connector. does anyone actually know its purpose and what the electrical connector is there for?

Yeah well, according to my mom's ******* mechanic who I used to go to before he tried to charge me $500 for a new radiator told me "you can't put an intake on this car, that box right there is an elevational fuel sensor" Bull*** I took that out but kept the solenoid attached and was fine!
