Warranty Questions??
I saw on another thread that you guys were discussing if reflashing voids the warranty. I just recently purchased a new '08 Civic SI with the standard 3 year/36k mile warranty. I have heard a lot of words that doing mods. like springs/shocks, header, intake, etc. would void this warranty. Seems like all these mods are pretty common place on most of the vehicles on this site. So in short I am just wondering if these things do for sure make you lose warranty coverage on the engine if you do an intake, or exhaust if you do a catback. Any knowledge would be apprecaited. Thanks!
although this question gets asked a lot, the answer is still no. they can only deny a warranty claim if they can prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. for example, if a cai causes your engine to hydrolock, the claim will be denied. however, an intake won't contribute to spinning a rod bearing.

So your saying if I go to the dealership and they say whatver it's not covered under warranty cause I have aftermarket parts on my car I say Magnasun Moss Act and they will cover it under warranty? Do I just say it? Is there a panphlet I can give to them?
look it up and print it out , most dealers dont bother with the BS as long as it is REALLY not the cause of the problem , not to say that scumbags arnt out there , but rule of thumb , they are better off keeping the customer happy . My dealership loves seeing modded cars since in some cases it actually helps them make more money off you in the long run. however they are not always as dumb as you think , they will pick up a reflash if you were to over rev on a mis shift , but your basic mods causing major probs is not common ground, so i wouldnt worry about it.
you can also talk to your service dept and kinda get a feel for their opinion on modded cars , some of my friends work at the honda dealer as techs and have heavily modded cars with things you would not even wanna try to do without the knowledge of working on your own car..too costly for the average si owner.
