B16 build opinions
ok so my mind is kinda all over the place for this post because of lack of sleep and alcohol but here goes.
I have a b16a2 in my 95 hatch.
mods are:
ITR cams
hondata gasket, blox manifold, stock injectors, high flow fuel rail, blox FPR with gauge running at 42 psi (dont know if thats good or bad), ctr throttle body, aem cold air and DC 4-1 headers. I have a hondata s300 running on a stock jdm P30 base map.
have a 7lb flywheel and act 6 puck sprung clutch on a ITR trans with LSD.
now ive been told then set up with a tune will put me somewhere around 185 HP. now I dont know if this is true or not that is why im typing this post.
now I have another B16A with CTR pistons, fully rebuilt new everything OEM rods and crank.
the head just came back from the machine shop yesterday and I wasnt happy with the port work so im having it flow tested to see if it needs more porting because the work already done just looks like ****.
but heres the mods for this motor.
B16A bottom end with CTR pistons
b16a2 head ported and polished
blox stage 2 cams
blox valves
blox springs and retainers
hondata gasket and blox manifold that will be ported as well
ctr throttle body
RC 550 injectors, high flow fuel rail, blox FPR
AEM cam gears
and DC 4-1 headers (for now) im saving up to have a custom header made
will be tuned on S300 through Ericks racing and he will be the one breaking it in
I also have a ZEX kit with a 75 shot ive been wanting to use just sitting so that might go into consideration with a smaller shot
now the guy who did the port work on the head said the b16a2 should make around 185 HP while my second motor will only put me at about 200.
I wanna know what other people think because is I spend all my money and time for 15 ****in horse power im driving it straight into a pole. ive been learning as I go along and this is my first motor build so all opinions are appreciated, sry for the long post

Relax it's a 1.6L. Dyno your current motor and see what it does.
Also, PCTs are not the best choice of piston, high dome, heaviest OEM b-series piston.

I got the complete bottom end cheap because the shop who assembled it never got paid for the bill. so I covered the rest and bought it for 400 bux. didnt have much choice for bottom end lol
its just worryin me a lil. I dont have extra cash to dyno my current motor because of the job market not letting me advance

first off the cylinder head flows more than enough completely stock to make way more than 200 whp. porting the head for what your doing is a complete waste of time and money. refer to www.intertune.tv and see 200 being made with a stock itr head and a mill.
if you dont have enough money to dyno your motor then how do you have enough to have the head ported which costs a lot more? a dyno tune is 150 and a head port is 800-1000.
and how can you tell that a head doesnt flow good by looking at it? if you had enough experience to be able to tell that why not just port it yourself?

I paid 500 for my head to be ported 6 months ago and finally got it back yesterday. I was told it came out back from the shop 3 days ago but when I pulled it out of the box there were cob webs down inside the head like its been sitting for a while. everything is rough inside.
I do not know how a ported head is suppose to look I guess but I work next door to a machine shop and they said its all rough cut and not finished.
you say you charge 150 for a dyno tune?
