Default catalyst efficiancy below threshold

2002 RSX Type-s with 03 k20a2 motor. (58000miles)

i did the search's i saw the info.. but more questions...this is meh first k20.. just got rid of the tegy and got a type-s
Only error code the car is throwing is catalyst efficiancy below threshold, ive reset it and it clears but comes back a day later. would this cause the motor to not pop vtec right? while testing in first gear on a slow rpm climb, i hear it but very very soft.. and when running it there is no difference as if it dosnt even work... while trying to hit 7900 rpm,, its very hard like from 7-8k its super slow in climbing... it just has no mid/high end power, but has fine low end. on the way to orlando, light came on.. and i guess cause i was running it hard against somone it started to fail out at 3800rpm. wouldnt rev past that. turned it on the next morning and it was fine. why would the ecu stop it for that short time at 3800?

thanks for time in reading and input

So it wouldn't rev past 3800? Have you checked all of your fluid levels? Sometimes if your oil is low, it won't build up enough pressure to run vtec correctly.

3800-4000 rpm = limp mode....check your oil, low oil level will through you into limp mode.....the cat code may be a dieing secondary o2 sensor.....

all fluids are fine, fresh oil change, and i topped it off to make sure it has the right amount. V-Tec pops like i said, but not knoticable.
when i clear the code, so the ecu is back to normal operations, the car still runs like ****.
would second 02 sensor make the car run like that? i dont really think so i would think its more mechanical then it is electrical? so somthing like a colapsed cat would make sence.

i ran my teg with stock ecu and no o2 sensors and it ran just fine, little gassy but just fine. nothing like how this is acting.

if it was my teg, ied say that the timing is off. cause ive had these symptoms happen to me when i had the cam timing off. but you cant adjust timing on k20? or how does the timing on this motor work? guy says that the engine was never opened and timing chain n such was never touched.

what is the mileage on the car....usually that code tells you that the cat is going bad....try taking the o2 out and driving it...and if it fixes the problem then the cat is clogged....and with the o2 out it frees the flow of the exhaust gas

alright cat is replaced with stock, and same thing,, tried to hit 7900 rpm and it went to limp mode and error code again. vtec is a little more noticeable but still has trouble climbing from 6k-8krpm, like in first gear it litteraly takes 3 seconds from 7-8krpm "Flooring it!" car has 58kmiles....

Next is going with a computer connected to ecu, to see all the air flows n such,., anyone know the levels they should be at or what i should be looking for ?
