Default Could be owning an S2000 by the end of the week!

So if all goes well I will be driving a Silver 2004 S2000 by the end of the week. The car has about 33,000 miles and is all stock. Just how I want it.

I will probably be paying more for the car than I could buy one for but since I owe twice as much on my Civic Si than it is worth (damn Civics lose their value fast!) and the dealer is going to absorb all of the negative equity I feel that $20,000 isn't that bad of a deal for a very clean, lower mileage, stock S2000. If you do the math I owe 14K on my Civic, it is worth 7K and I am getting the S2000 for 20K. Good deal?

Future mods consist of: cold air intake, springs, and hawk pads with nice rotors. I will probably leave the exhaust stock as I have an exhaust on my Civic and get tired of it sometimes. And the suspension will probably get upgraded to coilovers after I get money later on down the road.

Wish me luck and feel free to post pictures of your favorite silver S2000s for inspiration in my build!

stock rotors are nice. stock pads are nice unless you're going to the track. Leave the brakes alone.

If you're going to buy coilovers that you're going to actually like and are going to be an upgrade in terms of quality and handling from stock...prepare to open your wallet very wide.

You're getting the S2000 for 20K plus they're rolling $14K on top of the bill? So you'll owe $34k?!!! Sounds insane.

Oh well...atleast you bought a very fun car.

actually, the s2k will cost him 27k.

he owe's 14k
the car is worth 7k. so the dealer will give him 7k then add on the final 7k to his new loan.

FWIW, i just bought a 06 s2k with 9300 miles for 21k out the door. that includes tax and license. so i dont think 04 s2k with 33k miles for 20k a good deal.

NO NO NO NO NO!

They are giving me what I OWE for my car just because the bank won't finance the S2000 for much of anything over blue book. So for the sake of them making a sale on the car they are selling it to me essentially for 13K because they are giving me twice of what my car is worth.

I am only financing 20K for the 04 S2000 with 33000 miles.

And I have a supplier that can get me K sport coilovers for 800 bucks. I dunno how well the K sports do on the S2000 but that is something I will look into. I won't do coil overs for a while though.

And as for the brake pads, the stock stuff might be just fine but I know the Hawk stuff will just make it that much more awesome. I LOVE the hawk pads and powerslot rotors on my Si. I will probably just rock stock rotors with Hawk pads and enjoy the back roads in my new Honda sports car. :D Can't wait! I have been searching for MONTHS!

$20k is too much. k-sport is a major downgrade from the stock suspension. and like b-serious said, don't touch the stock brakes they are great stock also

Don't put a shoddy set of K-Sport/D2/F2/etc coilovers that look super with their anodized colors. Do yourself a favor and stick to Bilstein or KW.

Bilstein PSS (non adjustable damping, only ride height adjustable) can be had for a touch over a grand on www.shox.com. The PSS9 (adjustable damping & ride height) are about $1350. You definitely get what you pay for...and since the stock suspension is so good, you can't skimp out.

I <3 my Bilsteins...and they make some of the best suspension components out there.

congrats. if you were just paying 20k for it I'd say you were overpaying but with the dealership taking the civic off your hands and getting into the S for 20k I'd say you got a hell of a deal.

K sports? I wouldn't put K sports on someone else's civic. I have KW V3s on my S2000. They're great even if you don't plan on actually using them. I use the F out of them, though.

If you just want to lower the car, go with good quality lowering springs and stock shocks or Konis or something. Good lowering springs > bad coilovers. Plus they cost less than shitty coilovers.

I'm glad you're happy about your purchase. You won't regret owning the car...err...unless you have the wrong idea about it. I love mine.

Trust me about the stock brakes. You probably won't fade them on the street. I stopped from 140mph and they were fine. I've also tracked the car with stock pads. They worked good for a while at Road America. But ultimately, I just went to race pads for track days and stock pads for street driving. No compromises that way.

I wouldn't get a set of "sport" pads like Hawk HPS or something like that for the S2000. They're just going to dust more for very little actual braking gain. I had a set of them on my S13 with the 5 lug JDM brakes. They weren't really that impressive.

If you're just spirited street driving, the stock pads are more than enough. If you're tracking the car, just get race pads. Nothing else will do.

Their customer service is awesome...the tech guys really know their ****. The parts are of very high quality...you won't be disappointed. The shocks are beefy, and the rears have an external reservoir like OEM.

of course it's a good deal - you've got an S! - welcome to the club, they're fu(king great cars, but they'll cost you a heap in mods anyway, so the original value gets a bit lost...
