Ignition Switch Replaced, 2 days later Car is Dead????
SCENARIO: My wife was driving her 99 Accord LX Coupe Automatic to work Friday morning doing about 60mph. She flipped her headlights on and the car shut off and came back on. Happened again before she got to the parking lot but it shut off and came back on after she tapped her brakes. I get the call so I pick up the car and cannot duplicate the problem in the open parking lot. I drive the car with no issues to a local shop and get an electrical diagnostics done. I'm told the ignition switch needs replacement. Since her VIN doesn't qualify for the recall, I pick one up from Honda and change it out. The car works fine the following day(Saturday) with no issues. Today my wife is trys to start the car and the car is completely dead. No clock, no lights in the door, no accessory bells when the key is inserted, basically no juice.
Now I am assuming that the battery is dead, but can someone provide any feedback as to why this may have happened or if there is another electrical system I'm missing or overlooking. The diagnostics showed no issues for the battery, alternator, etc, etc.............so why after a day of not driving it (Sunday) would the battery be dead a day later or the car not have any power?
The last battery replacement was about 2 years ago. Any insight will be helpful and thanks in advance.

I got home to try and figure out the problem and the car started on the first try. The interior door lights were on, the clock was on, and it turned over with no problems at all.
Now, I'm a little confused as far as what to troubleshoot next. Battery cables, ground, open switches.................Any idea's?

on my h22a, if i put the key in and turn it instantly it clicks at me, i have to wait for the fuel pump to stop priming and it will start fine. which is different than your issue.
check your grounds

yea i just changed my ignition switch to in my hatch it started up great the first time and now the car is completely dead they only thing that comes on is the hazards nothing else whats so ever took a test light to some of the connections an cant find problem did you figure yours out
Do you have to have the ignition switch on for the headlights to work? That would seem bizarre, but if you do NOT, then the ignition switch was not the cause of the headlights going out. Once the battery is recharged, look for anything that's on that shouldn't be with the ignition switch off. The radio and dash gauges are a good examples. If something is on, suspect the wrong new ignition switch.
