Default Driver's window

Hello guys,

Couple months ago I bought the cheapest driver's window and replaced it myself.

Unfortunately something failed recently and window stopped to lower. I "opened" the door yesterday to check what has happened, and both plastic clips holding the window just simply let go. It looked like the glue dried so much it turned into plastic that cracked.

I'm asking myself a question. Did I do lousy job replacing the window (too tight? wrong angle?) or did I just buy cheap, crappy window (I was on the budget then I bought it for like 28$).

The clips holding the window were plastic, I saw some windows online for like 60$ with metal clips and hope that they have better grip on the actual glass, but I'm not sure.

What do you think is the best thing to do now? Spend 60$ on decent window and DIY or spend 180$ turning it into pro's hands and have the warranty?

Thank you for any comments.

Where did you buy the window? I've replaced a few windows with ones from other hondas and all the clips on the bottom were plastic, with a metal bushing for the screws to go into.

Sounds weird to me. You could try reattaching the clips to the window with some type of adhesive (I'm sure someone will chime in) and go from there. The expensive part of the window, though, is the glass, so if you could re-use it, you could save some money.

If you need to buy another complete window, try car-part.com. It will search the junkyards near you (if you're in North America) for the part you want. You might be able to find a good deal. I would avoid having someone else do it, just because it's an easy job to DIY, but that's just me.

Good luck man

In my case bushings were plastic as well.

I don't remember where I bought it, but could digg this info out if needed.

Glass is untouched, just those crappy plastic clips came off. I was lucky that window didn't fall down when the mechanism lowered without taking the glass with it.

To reapply the plastic clips I would need some kind of glue? What would you recommend?

I'm really not sure. I've never done it personally. Maybe someone else has an idea ?

Ok, cool. Thank you for the input texasnick. If someone knows what I should buy to reapply the plastic to the glass I would appreciate the help.
