any extra engines kicking around?? stock d15 to 180hp?? you might need one!

and keeping exhaust stock?? that's not going to help your case... if you want to do a budget build, realhomemadeturbo.com ... put a kit together yourself... at least it'd be reliable..

They are pretty good at letting you know one way or another if the piece is AC compatible. My buddy has an ebay kit he got for like a couple hundred bucks from another friend, hes sitting around 165-170hp on a stock z6 on like 7 psi. It's def fun to drive, however he hs a 2.5" invidia catback and it seems to work rather well.

Personal suggestion depending on what kind of car this is going into you can find a HF manifold buy an adapter plate for a HF to t3 turbo with internal gate if you want to keep the cost down. ebay piping and intercoolers will be fine or you can run a DSM sidemount or maybe even find an SRT4 or EVO 8 Intercooler on ebay rather cheap.

Definatly check out realhomemadeturbo.com for all your DIY questions.

thanks for the info. could you tell me which ebay turbo kit he has? it seems to me that there's a few different kits on ebay right now. i dont think rhmt is for me - i'm not really interested in hunting for numerous pieces to make a kit

hi there i bought a ebay turbo kit (from a friend who didn't use it), and using it right now. didn't dyno yet, but has been running perfectly in my civic ls(B18B) (semi built low comp. block). I use to have a gsr turbo (drag kit) and to say the ebay kit can compare to the drag kit.

I can confirm this because I am currently still running it. I haven't had any issues or leaks at all for the time I had it. the sucky thing is, the downpipe don't fit well enough. I had to cut and weld the downpipe for fitment. the intercooler piping was fine with little modification.

i guess its kinda like this set right here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4...Q5fAccessories

Yes I been able to smoke EVO MR's, SRTs, Mustangs.. etc, etc. This t3/t4 is running constant at 18lbs PSI daily. It's my daily driver.

I hate it when people can't confirm their opinions. One wrong story doesn't prove that ebay turbos are that bad. I believe the tuning is the main problem. If the turbo does have issues, its really "Cheap" to replace.

I ran 12.1 @114mph at sac raceway, full interior, with 23" slicks. (it was dark so I couldn't get a good video).

Like people say its probably a hit or miss with these kits, but I been happy with my ebay kit.

there has been alot more than 1 bad story. If this is your DD, and you dont have access to another car ,then from a reliability stand point I would skip the EBAY crap. In between the manifolds cracking, the turbo housings cracking (The pics are HT somewhere), and the turbo seals blowing out, its more than enough to cause you a headache, especially if you dont know how to fix your car. Those issues have nothing to do with tuning, its just poor quality crap. Tuning is another story, you can very easily and most likely blow the engine up if you dont have a proper tune done to it.

Let your buddies do it first, so you can see what kind of problems to expect

D15B? 2 or 7?

If it's the DPFI one then good luck.
Post pics and what injectors you used.

look buddy you asked for my opinion, if you dont believe me, then go buy your egay crap and let me know how it turns out. As a few have stated already its either hit or miss with those things, and I Have seen alot more people with issues than those without issues. If you know what your looking for and your patient waiting for the deals to pop up, you can build a turbo kit with quality slightly used parts for the same price. There was a brand new T1 manifold in the drag FS section last month for 500$. You wont hit a 1000$ budget with a manifold like that and you dont need one like that for your goals, but that was a steal none the less. The point is with your power goals, You can EASILY do a budget build with quality parts for the same price of crappy ebay kit. Listen to people that have been there. REALHOMEMADETURBO.COM is your friend....
