Fresh Paint's First Polish & Wax
Well this is my 98 Ex Sedan and late January I rear ended a lady in her mini-van and had to get it repaired. While it was in the bodyshop my friend owns
I had the whole car worked over.
Today she got her final cut/buff/polish/wax job.

Well she's finally old enough to seal up today and I couldn't wait to get started. Since the intital cutting after the spraybooth, some wetsanding lines have popped up, and she's looking a little dull overall. To be honest, I could have cut it down with a progression of 2000 grit, 2500 and 3000 to mirror the finish but I want to leave as much clear on as possible because I need it to last forever lol.
I started off using 3M™ Perfect-It™ Rubbing Compound PN 06085/06086
Followed by Optimum Polish
Finished with 3M™Perfect-It™ Ultrafine Machine Polish PN 06068/06069
Wax was Meguiars NXT 2.0 Liquid Tech Wax
I used the Rubbing compound with my 3M Perfect-it II Wool Pad
The Optimum Polish was worked in with a white Lake Country foam pad
and the 3M Ultrafine was applied with the Lake Country black foam pad
The wax was applied with my bare hands on the hood, the rest was covered with an applicator.
She looked good after a wash, but closer inspections prove she needed more work.

Paint Marring from the first round of buffing

Paint Chipping

Sanding marks/hazy clear

Fairly Dull overall

Overspray in several areas

My paint's drippin' yo!

After a little work, it came off but there was an air bubble in it so it was a little difficult to completely repair. I later touched this area up with a little duplicolor paint.

After Rubbing Compound and wool pad:

After a little work with the Optimum Compound; I really love this stuff!

It started to rain so I was rushed to finish the car; The rest of the pictures are after completion of the 3M Ultrafine and Meguiars NXT wax. The rain subsided after I was done however so I was able to snap some interesting after pictures. Enjoy!
