did they come stock with lsd?

cause i read that if you can see threw the axel holes from one side to another
that supposably that means you have lsd?

true or false?

Cause its an Open diff and you are supposed to able to see through it.

I have Quaife LSD in my GSR tranny and you cant see through.

I dont have LSD in my LS tranny and you can see through it and can see the pin.

Real world experience here.

I just went and looked at my stock Si tranny and guess what, I can see straight through it(pin). I can guarantee you its not LSD.

To further clarify, it is possible to have LSD and see straight through (No pin). If you can see straight through and see the pin (No LSD).

Someone chime in if I am wrong here.

 

here is the deal, and its not false..

if your diff looks like this (|) with the | being a metal rod with daylight on both sides, then you have an open diff which is not LSD.

look through your diff. if you see a circle of daylight: o you have lsd.

Both types of differentials you can see daylight through the whole thing, but the open diff has a metal rod through the center of the hole of daylight, while the LSD is a hole you can put a broomstick through.

furthermore, there are LSD's available in the aftermarket for the d-series transmission, and there is 1 JDM zc d-series transmission that came with LSD from honda and has a 4.44 final drive i believe. If you happen to have a d-series transmission with an LSD, there is a 99% chance you have one with an aftermarket LSD.

 

There was actually a few. In both automatic and manual.

They ranged from 3.888 to 4.428. That's just for the sedan's too. I can't be bothered looking up the rest of them.

 

Often times like with my Quaife LSD you cant see through.

 

just to clarify your confusion,

when we mean "see through" we mean "no pin". you can stick a broom stick through the axle holes.... this is an OEM type LSD. there are many other types and brands of LSD. quaife being one of them and not constructed that way. we are not talking about quaifes in this thread.


i have a D series OEM LSD (for sale). but its "big axle" type. will need a DOHC ZC intermediate shaft and proper axles. consider it like putting in a DOHC ZC tranny. (and its see thru, lol)
