car is a 96 civic ex D16Y8 auto.
-car has high ideal its almost at 2000 RPM and once it warms up it surges like it has a IAC problem. i cleaned out the IAC it was pretty dirty. that usually fixes the problem on M/T trans cars i've done with this issue. No codes, i checked for vacuum leaks but could not find any, i pulled pretty much every vacuum line and re-installed them just to make sure all were good. the main problem is this car has been sitting for over 3 years, the car has old gas in it. but it did have that gas stabilizer stuff in it. i've never delt with a A/T civic before anyone have any ideas, or pointers thanks for any help

If its been sitting a long time, I would probably drive it for a while once you get better gas in it and see if it still does the idle thing. If it does, I would maybe change the coolant if its old, otherwise you probably need to replace the IAC valve, which sucks because they are expensive. You could try adjusting the throttle body screw around and mess with that a little and see if that makes any difference also. Good luck.

 

yeah the gas is pretty old. i already told the owner to try to drive and burn some gas and then refill i hope that might improve something. ive got to get my DVOM back from my buddy so i can do some electrical diagnosis of that sensor.
