Default Check engline light/idling low

I own a 2000 civic si. About an hour and a half ago I was cleaning my engine, and yes did all the proper covering and what not, let my engine cool, and I sprayed it down. I spray everything off with water, and I start my car and it isn't running like normal.. and my check engine light is on. Me not knowing alot about cars, I ask my brother, and he tells me reset my ecu, so I went through that process, and it still has the check engine light on and is running the same.... any thoughts? Please help=\

what dude? lol

even with proper cover water can still enter the distrubitor and or spark plug area. take off your cap and look inside for water. wipe cap dry. same goes for spark plug wires that connect onto the plugs. sounds like its running on 3 cyl creating a low idle

Yeah, I would bet waaBAAH is right. I have heard of many people getting water in their distributors when hosing down the engine bay. The seal behind the cap isn't really much of a seal at all, especially if its kinda old. If you clean it out in the future don't spray that area or cover it somehow.

distributor was dry. took off my spark plug cover and pulled out one of my spark plug boots and water was all inside the well. i took it to a gas station and used their air compressor and blew it all out, and all 3 of the other wells. i took it around the down for about 20 minutes, and everything was running fine until i drove home. my car started sputtering and the check eng light came on. the next day i bought a new cap and rotor, even a new air filter thinking maybe i got water in that some how, but it's still sputtering and the light keeps coming on. no idea what it is though. i'm hooking it up to a friends code reader today to hopefully find the problem=\
