I have nothing to do with this company, but the PRS-4 standalone is something i think everyone should give serious consideration to.

The software is free to download and mess with, and there are a ton of good articles on the site.

Im going to be buying one myself in a few weeks, so i'll let you guys know how it works out. I have an old PM5 ecu which i've gutted, and i'm gonna install the PRS4 inside the casing, along with a small fan. I plan on using all the stock honda sensors and wiring harness, and making it a plug and play setup.

 

My shop sells it , its really good from what I see.

Well, the "ECU" is just what they called their prior standalone. The current PRS can do wasted spark easily. Looks like all you would need is a set of coil packs from a DSM or RX7.
For the time being, i plan on using the entire stock honda distributor. The stock dist is really simple: its got 3 pickups, coil, and ignition module. All the ignition module is, is a relay. It has five wires:
1]12v + in
2]12v - in
3]12v out to the coil
4]tach signal out
5]low voltage trigger signal from ecu

So in actuality, all you need to use is a single output from the PRS to use the stock dist. The distributor itself handles the spark distribution like it was designed to do.

And SASO, which shop is it your talking about? is it your shop, or just a shop you go to?

Actually, there's nothing exciting I can see about it. It sounds pretty standard. It has a pretty high resolution fuel map, but just those basic specs leave alot of detailed technical questions unanswered. It really all depends on peoples experiences with it and how cheap it is. Let us know how it goes and how much it all adds up to.

You can download the software and the manuals for free. The PRS manual is not available for download yet. However if you download the manual for their older "ECU" system, it is very easy to understand and provides a wealth of info. If the PRS book is half as good, then installation should be easy.

Not plug and play. They say they have wiring diagrams for over 400 cars, but they wont give them out if you didnt purchase a unit. Personally, i plan on using the entire stock Honda wiring harness and all the stock sensors including the distributor, like i said above. There are base maps available, but i'd imagine they are pretty rought and would still need some setting up to run.
Once i get mine installed and half-assed tuned, i'll have a nice set of maps to give out.

Something like Hondata is definatly the way to go if you need your looking for simplicity. But if your looking into something like haltech, or electromotive tec2/3, this is looking super atractive.
