Please help!
i overheated for a while, and the next day i had white smoke coming out of my exhaust and my idle was bouncing from 2500 to 1000 over and over again. I pulled the head thinking it was a gasket and the gasket looks perfectly fine....so i was thinkin my head was warped, i pulled my intake manifold because im going to be bringing the head to a machine shop to get checked and resurfaced if needed, and all my intake valves and intake ports are black. I am not sure but i dont think it is supposed to be like that, any ideas as to what is wrong with my car if it turns out to not be the head.
could it have just been a head gasket and maybe i needed to run the car for a while after refilling the coolant. It sounded like **** and was bogging and shooting smoke out of the exhaust so i didnt want to run it and pulled it apart.
what do you guys think? please help me out im strapped with time because this is my daily driver and i need it to get to work and class.

Black as in carbon build up? Even though the gasket looks good, it might still be bad. Improper torquing of the head bolts might also be a cause. Do you have a torque wrench, torque sequence and torque specs available?
yes i have a torque wrench...but i never had to torque the head down. all i have done is remove it and i did it according to spec. i just dropped the head off at a machine shop for pressure testing and resurfacing if needed and if its in spec. Could my idle bounce from 2500 to 1000 be from anything else...? car was fine until this incident.
The bouncing idle is usually caused by the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) which is on the back of the Intake mani right next to the TPS sensor. Clean it out with like brake cleaner. Or the other culprits would be the Fast Idle Valve, clean this out also, air bubbles in the coolant.
