Default Alternator

I have a 1999 Accord EX. I think my alternator is going out. I'll get it tested tomorrow. Anyone know how difficult it would be to change it myself? I do all the work for my other Accord and my Subaru Legacy (much more difficult) so I do know a bit about the cars. Would it be time consuming or just as easy as changing an A/C compressor? Thanks.

It's MUCH easier than a AC compressor assuming you have the 4cyl

The alternator isn't too bad to change. The hardest part is loosening the belt.

I could have my alternator out in 10 minutes on my 98 4-cyl. Yeh, I think you can handle it if it is a 4-cyl. There is basically only three bolts to loosen. What is your mileage? 4-cyl?

Mileage is at 152k. And yes it is a 4 cyl. I swapped it out last night. Hardest part was the belt. Overall took me about an hour. I ended up paying the extra 80 bucks and bought the Honda one from the dealer. For some reason me and Duralast don't really get along...Since December, I've gone through 4 Duralast batteries on the thing. All replaced under warranty....

Yeah its simple a few nuts unless you strip a nut round like I did and I think ruin the threads on the bolt somehow, then it could take days and weeks if you don't have something to cut it off with in the cramped and dark location honda decided to place the nut8( Still trying to remove the nut. I honestly don't even believe my Alternator is the problem though so Im gonna just leave it for now. lol GL
