im going to do a 3" down pipe with 3" exhaust no cat to a Apexi n1 turbo muffler..im just wondering how loud is it going to be..setup is a gsr eagle rods,wisco 9:5:1 forged pistons,gsr head ported and polished,rc 550 injectors,drag 3 turbo kit with a couple of upgrades..shooting for 350 hp..just wondering how loud the exhuast is going to be..i have a itr now with buddy club cams and try y header with 2.5 with a cat and its loud!!

 

im running an open downpipe on my h22a, i was suprised the first time that i put it into 5th at 2800 rpm and it quited down.

 

3" exhaust is pretty loud. im running a b20 turbo hatch with full 3" exhaust...downpipe, cat, midpipes, N1 style canister. my hatch is completely dynomatted and its still pretty damn loud...

 

Turbo cars are quieter than NA.

 

I would say its not as loud as a all motor car with bigger piping like 2.5 and no resonator and no cat

 

It really depends on what muffler you have..I have the flat black vibrant muffler and my car is super quiet

 

It's quietness all come down to the muffler, resonator, and cat.

Bigger resonator, quieter muffler, and a high flow cat will knock down the noise.

I've found large oval bodied Magnaflow mufflers to take away ALMOST as much sound level as an RV style Dynomax, and the muffling lasts better with the Magnaflow.

 

I was thinking about switching to a WS2 turbo muffler, anyone have experience on turbo cars? I know they sound great stock.

 

To Op: 3" from the turbo back is going to be very loud.

 

I have a high flow magnaflow cat, resonator and strait through apexi n1 style muffler. The exhaust sounds real good. You can hear it when you give it gas but it's deep and throaty not raspy at all. Once boost hits all you hear is the turbo. It's 3 inch from the turbo back...

the new hatch I have a 3" custom with a cheap muffler(looks like N1 style)

both were on a 3" dp and no cat

 

it can get loud, i run a 3.5 open down pipe on my ls its loud

 

im prob going to do a cat and a resonator..how much hp will that take away?

 

This isn't really a 3" exhaust tho

 

I have the 3" thermal R&D with no cat and the noise inside the car is a bit loud. It would not be fun for a 10 hour road trip, but weekend driving and racing is no big deal

I have a 3" highflow cat, big resonator, and magnaflow muffler and its still loud at f*ck.. gutted EG hatch though

 

I'm running a 3" high flow cat and vibrant resonator to a N1 muffler, and inside the car on the freeway, it's a drone!!! sometimes upnoxious to deal with but it's what makes power. if you can deal with noise levels that you have right now, then this would be about the same. it's quiet at idle for the most part, and when driving next to my friends they say it's pretty quiet, so in all I'm happy. I could not drive this car everyday though. just my .02. just to let you know, I removed the cat and had a test pipe made and to be honest, I didn't notice a change in sound at all. still remains quiet and a drone inside the car.

 

How can you accurately state that? Are you just shouting random numbers?

 

i just slapped a magnaflow xl 3 chamber muffler on my car after my dynomax superturbo muffler rusted away. i had the magnaflow just sitting around.

the magnaflow is MUCH louder. i will be replacing it very soon with another dynomax superturbo muffler because the noise it annoying after a long drive. it sounds nice but to loud.

 

I run 3" downpipe with 3" exhaust and no muffler, and to be honest its not as loud as it was when I did run a muffler. Now unbolt the exhaust and just run the downpipe well lol not quite the same lol
