would you get rid of your type r for an nsx??
hey guys just need some opinions for us fellow type r owners. ive had my 98 r for about 7 years now and love everything about it. my dream was to one day get an nsx but at the time were still too expensive. im now 26 years old with a steady job. im not rich by all means just a hard worker making a fair living. i could possibly sell my type r for about 18-20k . its in mint condiontion with 34k miles. if i can find a mint nsx for about $25k-35k with low mileage do u think i should do it?? how many of you would do the same. its very hard for me to sell my car but it would have to go because the nsx would be the garage queen.
thanks
thanks
the fact that nsx are just as rare or probably a lot more rare...
i would probably consider letting go my R for an nsx... make sure u are able to secure one before u let it go though...
thats what i would do... or try to

ive had alot of cars in my day and the only one i can see getting if i sell my itr is an nsx. its such a hard decision but an nsx in the garage would be pretty badass.. i bet driving one would be just as fun or better. i hate myself for liking cars. i want them all !!!!
im deffinetly getting an NSX next..but i dont think i could part with my R...keep your R and save up some more $ and get both..if its possible..its what im gunna try to do..
i would keep both. lol. Honestly if you can get an NSX it would be bad *** as it is my dream car. I would save a little more and keep both cars. By the way are NSX as bad as Rs in terms of theft??

Im pretty sure Honda made about twice as many NSXs as they did ITRs for the US market? I remember an reading an article stating there were about 9000 int the US
The NSX is an amazing machine BUT, before you make a decision like this (because it does involve selling your R) I would at least test drive one. You dont want to realize you made a big mistake when your R is already gone. I love the Rawness of the R but Ive never driven an NSX so I dont know which I would prefer.
although i dont have an R, i would trade any honda or acura for an nsx. whats better than an nsx?
i dont think so. nsx parts would be a little bit harder for thieves to get rid of annonymously. consider the number of type r components you see floating around on the internet compared to the number of nsx parts.
the reasons civics/integras are so widely stolen is because so many parts are interchangable across trims and generations, and theres so many of them.
i dont have any hard facts to back this up, but i would guess nsx theft is WAY less common than R theft.

As much as I love my R, I would sell it for an NSX in a heartbeat. Body lines are so much sexier on an NSX. I've driven a few NSX's because of my previous job, and my R is much more fun to drive. The NSX almost feels like it's underpowered stock. But when it comes to taking it out on the road, I'd pick the NSX. You cant help but to stare when you see an NSX on the road or at a car meet.
That's a good question, if I was a bit older and have good sufficient income coming through, i'd keep my R and pick up an NSX. Just can't part ways with a legend.
I couldn't daily drive an itr. Right now I have an e36 m3 which is my daily driver and my itr is my garage queen. The nsx would replace my itr. Unfortunately I can't have all three cars and an itr and an nsx wouldn't make sense. I live in nj and theft is an issue that's y I can't daily drive an itr
I kept mine.
They're completely different vehicles. The ITR is more raw than the NSX. The ITR is certainly more utilitarian: 4 seats, large hatch/trunk area. The NSX is just a sexy beast.
I still get the same giddy grin when I start up either one.
Keep both if you can.
If you have to get rid of one for the other, be absolutely sure what you're getting into with the NSX.

Yeah, It depends how much cash you dumped into your ITR, If your like me and poured as much money into it as you originally paid for it, selling it for 18k is nonsense. I'd say as stated above to make sure you like driving the NSX before parting the the R, it's no go kart like the R but has the most bling factor for sure, although if you own a modded ITR and can't afford to mod the NSX but which to customize it, you might be broke for the long haul money pit. Also If it breaks, if you can barely afford it, how will you pay to fix it? The insurance, is it affordable to you? All things you have to consider.
I am personnally trying to get both cars as well. By the time I have the money for a NSX, I'll probably change my mind, but it's my goal for now, aside from a house, lol.
Good look deciding

so ur saying the nsx isnt as raw as the itr?? its an f1 inspired vehicle and was made way before the itr came out. ive never driven one but i think it would be a fun car to drive. mid engine rear wheel drive sounds like fun to me. for the ones that test drove it... did u guys just drive it around the block or did u get a chance to open it up.?? i would love to keep both but unfortunately i only have room for only one car in the garage. ive been contemplating this for about 3 years now and i still havent sold the type r. i just dont think i could. i love it too much..
I drove a 375 whp NSX about 6 years ago, and that was one of the coolest and most fun cars I have ever driven. I would trade my Type R for a NSX-R.
My brother has an NSX and I've had the chance to drive it a few times. It is extremely precise (probably due to the lack of power steering, it's a 91), but it doesn't have the extremely light-on-its-feet feeling of the DC2s. And if you're planning on purchasing one of the earlier NSX's, the jdm gearing is a must, otherwise you'd be able to cruise up to 90mph in first gear with the USDM gearset.
I don't have an ITR, but a GSR with an ITR swap, and my brother says my car is more fun to drive.

Is that your ITR in your avatar?
If so, I think you will be hard pressed to get $18-20k for it.... I am not saying that you wont, but it will take the right buyer to purchase it....
And, I am sure people would pay more for a bone stock ITR, not a modded one.....And the JDM front end unfortunately wont help the sale either, imo.....
But, good luck either way....
I would definately test drive a NSX first, and be sure you weigh out the maintenance costs of each....

absolutely. an NSX is a definite upgrade from a Type-R. my only concern: repair costs. they are astronomical for an NSX. do some research on what you do if the NSX's transmission goes out. it ain't pretty nor cheap.
being able to afford a car is one thing. being able to afford owning it is another. you'll be happy with either car, i'm sure. i, personally, would L O V E an NSX. good luck!!

I would probably go with the NSX, I love my R but I have also always wanted an NSX. Get a Zanardi NSX, or better yet, a Spoon one.
