Can you put a 97 civic engine in a 92 civic
you can with no problem, you just need the mount on the driver side. Thats about it, and you have to switch from obd2a to obd1 plugs. what you trying to put a y8 into a 92?
Yeah i was looking for an engine and one of my friends had one he took out of his 97 civic. So if it could work then i was going to go ahead and try, but if not i didnt want to waste the time.
can work with work
it's not going to plug right in and drive off
as sirt_eg mentioned drivers side mount, obd2a plugs, ecu, and dizzy adapter harness (rewire.com) off the top of my head...
it's not hard
just didn't want ya to think it was a plug and play deal

You would probably be better off just leaving the plugs and switching the ecu in the 92 to the computer for 97. That is if the 97 engine still has harness in tact. If not then ya... get a harness and swap plugs
its easier getting a basemap with ur motor specs when getting a chipped obd1 p28(vtec) or p06(non_vtec) ecu depending which ever motor u select y7,y8,y5 etc...u can ream the sliding area out on the dizzy with a dremel and use ur obd1 dizzy(only the top bolt will line up. ive rode with mine like this for 3 yrs with no problems). Or you could buy a new conversion harness for obd2-obd1 . damn near plug and play . also you will have to wire in vtec wires( many write ups about this if u search "mini me swap") if u dont have them or just buying a z6 engine harness if swapping a y8.
