Fresh Swap Wont Start....
What model car is the motor in? Did you have to convert to MPFi?
Are you getting spark? Fuel? Is the timing right?
All your grounds ok? Is plug wire firing order correct?
Is your #14 fuse blown?
Does it have gas?

Ok just checking.
I would go through the steps in this thread from the FAQ.

Think he's saying the plug wires were on wrong at the distributor.
I was referring to mechanical timing. Crank and cam aligned right.
Also Ive seen some injectors all gummed up from sitting for years. Swap your si rail and injectors on.
Compression test?

are you getting spark, are you getting fuel?
for fuel you can probably tell if you take a spark plug out, if it smells like gas.
for spark, just put a screw driver in a spark plug wire, hold it near a ground, have someone crank the engine over.

i would defiantly check the timing (rotate the crank till the marks are TDC and everything is lined up) and firing order on the plug wires.
I've had this problem on more than a few setups

Every ground has been checked and rechecked.
Motor is from HMO. Steve said he checked compression. Im going to check it again tomorrow.
Each spark plug has gas on it after cranking. So there is fuel getting to each cylinder. Checked spark plugs and there is a strong white spark.
Thought it could possibly be too much fuel so i swapped the fuel pressure regulator, to no avail.
Swapped Intake manifold, fuel rail, and injectors to stock A6, thinking it may be a problem there.
I really dont think its timing. Even if it was way off, It should ignite and turn off. Or run like ****.
There is fuel, spark and every fuse is fine.
Checking compression tomorrow. Anything else you can think of?
Car crank and cranks, but wont ignite. Halp!

Your compression would have to be terrible for it not to start. Also i think your right about the timing.
I think it's been said before, but have you checked the distributor leads are heading to the right cylinders?

dizzy engine ie bottom left clockwise 1 3 4 2. is this not correct?
(3 4) 4 3 2 1
(1 2)
When I did myobd0 to obd1 swap on my old 1990 Si harness, it had old weak-sause wires and at some point and palce cracked. killing the conections to my ecu. Try by-passing the dizzy wires right to the ecu! you will need to lookup your wire specs! They can be found here on h-tech... good luck!

possible, but fuel is deff getting into the cylinders, and multiple failed attempts at starting the car shows fuel is getting to the cylinder, its NOT flooded we checked last night, if anything its slightly richer then it should be, in this case wouldn't the car at least fire and run like ****? until the a/f ratio is normal?
