How often are you suppose to change the cabin air filter?

well some dealerships will say 15k some wil lsay 30k. At our dealership in Vegas area we do 15k because we are super dusty out here. Normal conditions would be 30k IMHO

I changed mine at around 27k miles and it definitely needed it. The filter was very dirty and after putting in the fresh one, I noticed the cabin was much "fresher".

I think I may need to change mine after every winter. All that snow, salt, sand, and salt dust.

I changed it 3 times on two different cars so far. Honestly, IMO, I think it's a waste of $$$. I never noticed it being any "fresher" than then car #3, which does not have one.

I did what the manual said, and what's recommended in the past.

I don't see a need to do that in the future. Maybe every 60K miles, don't know. It's not a move parts, or affect performance like the engine air filter. Sure the filter filters out all the crap that goes into the cabin. But we do open the door to get in, and drive with the windows down.

The only exception would be if the AC until smells. Then I would make it a point the clean it out and then change the filter also.

What the hell does your situation have to do with mine? Don't quote me because you can't notice a difference. I take care of the interior of my car and it hardly ever stays dirty for more than a day, and I was still able to notice a difference very easily when I change the cabin air filter. Opening the doors wouldn't matter if you closed them, and then ran the recirculator. I agree they are too expensive, especially since it looks just like an engine air filter, but it made a difference for me, nonetheless.

I didn't think quoting someone was offensive or a disagreement. It has nothing to do with you. I thought your reply best lead to what I want to say.

Having worked at a Honda dealership in the past, I would have to say that they are worth changing. I have pulled some out that are completely disgusting, I would hate to know that I was breathing in air that was first pulled through a dirty air filter. I have even seen some with mold on them. However these are normally people who completely neglect their cars.

We changed them every 30k miles.

I've had a couple hernias in my time lol. They definitely suck. I've had a herniated disc and when I was younger, I had a hiatal hernia. Scoliosis + back spasms = me laying on the floor in the fetal position when I try to walk lol.

go to home depot and buy the paper filters for in wall air conditioner units and trim them down they work just as well and for about $7 you can make 2 of them, then you can change them as often as you want.

pull the glove box down and slide the access panel out and the filter sits inside it. there is also an entire youtube demo on how to do it as well.

you really should'nt need to watch the vid. if you pull the glove box down you will see it . just pull the tray and it's just a drop in filter, i just trim home in wall AC filters from home depot and save my money for other things. Honda is a rip off for the filter, home depot is $7 and makes me 2 filters, and they work just as good if not better.
