I have a stock 94 gsr tranny that refuses to go into gear anytime I'm above and around 3000 rpm.
Can this be the result of an old clutch or more of a serious internal tranny problem?

I realize this problem on the day I accelerated to 7000 rpm in first gear to pass a park car that was in my lane.
Would this be enough to create this problem of having bad synchros?

Will check fluid levels, and it does grind sometimes after that incident but will not pop out of gear. However it does whine upon start up and acceleration :s
this happened to me on the freeway when i was driving once.
Order of occurance:
--Accelerated to 5000 in third
--Tried to shift to 4th [Wouldn't let me shift until 3500 rpm]
--Realized my clutch was ground to a nub by the previous owner
--Got that **** replaced
Could be similar to my problem, also when the mechanic was tearing my tranny apart and released the plates a couple shredded pieces of clutch fell down from the lift. So, you could have broken something in the plates like i did.
Hope it helps

Same problem in my brother 2000 si... replaced the clutch and fluid and now it shifts like butter... before changing any of the internals of the trans I would first check on the status of the clutch.
hitting the rev limiter in first shouldn't blow your syncros... that usually happens from a missed down shift. (going from fifth to second)
