Milkshake removal tips and/or sugestions?
I just picked up a d15b2 today w about 170k on it... has a blown head gasket. ran strong, did not smoke accept for burning coolant. i need to get it cleaned up and fixed so i can get my dx up and running before the summer heat (AC!!). does any one have any tips on cleaning all the milk shake goop out of it? i have access to a hot tank and a solvent tank at school, and can tear the motor apart and put it back together if that helps at all...
thanks in advance!!

disassemble and hot tank it all. It might be worth boring .030 over and getting high compression pistons and a set of Hastings racing rings (I like them... I don't build Hondas but I swear by 'em) and it'll give you a little extra oomph.
Also clean up the ports, I haven't torn a Honda engine down, but if they have any excess material hanging out from casting and stuff, or sharp edges near where the valve stem goes through the port, rounding that off (but don't hit the valve stem!) would probably help a little too.

well first off is all the crap in the coolant system or in the oil pan? you could have more than just a blown head gasket. i am dealing with this problem right now anit turned out being a cracked water jacket,so make sure you inspect that in depth. second all of the "milkshake" looking coolant and oil mixture is going to be everywhere, radiator, all the lines, heater core, etc. tear it down and start over.
nope just in the oil pan and head. i had the car for a while (bought it as a parts car, my buddy bought it from me and decided to rebuild it instead of scraping it). head gasket was blown between cyl. 2 and three, it was WAY blown, the type that was on there was a graphite gasket w a metal ring around each cylinder, it broke. any ways, for as long as i had it, and the owner before and after me, there wasn't ever any oily residue in the coolant. just white goop in the oil pan/oil jets/head.
edit: i guess the reason it blew in the first place was because the car (91 crx dx) was in a front end colision, and it cracked the radiator. prev. owner just kept driving it and kept adding water as it would run hot... yeah that's why it blew.
