Default migging stainless w/ C25?

I need to weld a bung to a pot (both stainless) and I only have 75% Ar/25% CO2 gas. I haven't picked up a spool of stainless wire yet, but plan to soon - I will NOT use mild steel wire, as I've had nothing but bad luck with mild welds on stainless. So I was wondering if C25 will produce a QUALITY weld with stainless - no embrittlement, rusting, etc. If not, what's a better idea, purge an 85% full 30# bottle of C25 and refill with 100% argon of tri-mix or track down some SS flux core wire?

Nope wouldnt do it. Active gas is a nono on stainless. Cheapest bet is to get some innershield ss wire or find someone with a bottle of the right gas.

Or you could stick it. 308 rod is actually pretty easy to run.

is SS FC wire pretty easy to find at any welding supply store or will I have to go online? I won't even need a 1# spool

seems like even with the right gas mig'd SS turns out crappy, at least in my experience. Maybe because gas coverage isn't great, along with no pre or post flow. I never use it for more than tacks

Migging stainless is fine if you do it right. Figure it out and you can make it turn all rainbow like everyone loves Newer machines have pre and post flow as well.

the key is having the right gas and the right wire for the job.you need stainless mix gas.if you have just one little weld to do.it may not be worth getting all the stuff to do it.have someone tig it for you.
