What size wheel for new civic si
What size wheel do you experienced guys recommend for the new civic si?
I was thinking either 16x8
or 17x8 the car weighs i think 3100 pounds or so, so its not light.
I think i have better tire selection in the 17.
I just want one set of tires/wheels so for hpde events and street, So i want to get high perf street tires, ill sacrifice wet traction as long as they are street legal. I dont have to worry about snow either.
thanks

I recommend you FIRST decide on the size tire you want to use, and THEN decide on the best wheel size using the specs for recommended wheel width.
I would not go down in wheel diameter from stock, so stick with 17", not 16". The Civic Si comes with 215/45-17 tires, stock. The two stickiest street tires you can buy - perfect for your combination of street and track use - are both available in that size, so I would just stick with the stock tire size of 215/45-17 and get one of those two. The Bridgestone RE-11 is $175/tire before rebate plus shipping at Tire Rack, and the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec is $138/tire before rebate with free shipping at Discount Tire Direct. Also, both tires have rebate offers on them right now; the RE-11 has a $100 rebate, and the Star Spec has a $50 rebate (or $75 as a credit on amazon.com).
Most 215/45-17 tires are approved for rims 7.0-8.0 inches wide, which includes the stock 17x7 rims. If you want to get aftermarket rims, you can use 17x7, 17x7.5, or 17x8, your choice.

i want to go 225-235 though I think i'd get better handling for road courses.
i used to run 225 on my civic with good results and that car was stripped down do 2200 or less pounds
We run a 17x9 Enkie RPF1 in a 35mm offset. With a 235/40-17 Toyo R888 on the RSX Type S race car. We've been messing with a SI four door in street trim and the same wheel and tire combo seems to work very well.
