Brake pedal to the floor after bleeding
So after bleeding the brakes, my pedal is going all the way to the floor after I start the car. As I wasn't aware at the time, I told my assistant to push the pedal all the way to the floor as I opened the bleeder valves. After searching, it might be a bad master cylinder, but here is the confusing part. I followed the RR,FL,RL,FR procedure, and the Left Rear drum didn't have any fluid the four times I tried to bleed it. I should also note that this drum binds somewhat. Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be?
On that drum with no fluid, try taking the bleeder screw/valve completely out and blowing/clearing it out. Alot of times the bleeders get clogged up. Another possibility is there is rust or corrosion in the brake lines. You may still have air in the system that might be causing the pedal issue, or the seals in the master cylinder might have been damaged during bleeding like you said. With the car running, lift and pump the brake pedal several times until you get pressure. When you get pressure, keep your foot on the pedal with a fair amount of pressure. If the pedal sinks or just drops again, you have a serious leak or the master is shot.
Thanks. I will try that. Could a bad wheel cylinder have any affect on the bleeding process? I was thinking that might be the cause of the binding.
