hey guys i was driving home today from work and all of the sudden i hear my car different sounded like it was getting muffled....i get home pop the hood and there was oil everywhere?? it was shooting out of the valve cover breather?! im guessing the engine is done i dont know? what do you think are symptoms that can cause this? ur help would be great thanks!

 

what kind of engine and whats done to it? More info plz.

You could have excess crankcase pressure and need a catch can, but i have no idea, because you could have a boosted 400hp engine, n/a 250hp engine or a stock d15b2

 

sorry man its a d15with a y8 head basically stock with over 100,000 miles on it!? in a EF

well if u wanna see ur rings are bad you can do a leak down test or a compression test. that seems like very low miles (expecially for an ef) to start spittin oil. also make sure like 89 said up there, check the pcv valve to make sure its not stuck closed. let us know what you find

 

ok brother heres the thing ive checked everything and im thinking the PCV valve is the L shaped thing in the catch can right? not the PCV filter i got on the valve cover?

 

its the plastic piece , not the filter.

 

the d16y8 manifold doesnt have a mounting spot for the pcv valve like the older manifolds... I have a feeling this is all coming down to improper crankcase ventilation.
