Default Brake upgrade ?'s

I see that the 88 CRX is lighter than some other years of CRX is that due to not having rear disc brakes?

I heard that some CRX's had aluminum drums any truth to that?

I am doing 4 wheel disc with stainless steel lines, drilled and slotted rotors and Hawk pads if it doesnt add weight. Other option is leaving the drums and maybe find the aluminum ones if 4 wheel disc does add weight.

Thanks,

why not do the rear swap and just get oem rotors rather then drilled and slotted seeing how your probably not going to be breaking hard enough to generate enough heat to put them in use

88 CRX had less metal in them such as bumper reinforcements, door bars, etc. Also drilled and slotted rotors will do nothing for you. I suggest getting a good set of blanks and a good pad. In all my years of road racing and trying different combo's drilled/slotted rotors were truely the biggest waste of money.

Good choice with the hawk pads though, one of the single best pads I have ever used.

I would do the stainless lines for sure as well as bleed the system with fresh dot-4 performance fluid such as ate super blue or similar, and just get a set of hawk hps pads, or porterfeild r4s pads, and shoes.

Unless you really need the look, and 15 more lbs of 4 wheel disks.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I only want drilled and slotted rotors for the weight savings and I must admit I like the way they look.

Every little bit helps, especially rotating weight. I just ordered some Lenso's and 22 inch M&H slicks too cause the lenso's are lighter than the rims I have by 2 lbs each. I have drilled and slotted rotors on my lightning and Mustang as well. I am a habitual bad excuse maker.

Drilled discs will crack eventually, quickly on the track.

Aluminum hubs from a 1st gen hf fit on EFs. I have a pair for sale. Rare junkyard pieces

no, any drilled rotors will crack. but it doesnt sound like youre that hard on your brakes. so i guess you dont have to worry about it as much.

im selling them for $60 plus shipping.

You must be stupid to pay for brembo's . I worked a shop and they are stupid money. You really don't need them. I live in San Antonio and there are no fast honda's out here and am from San Diego, California were streetracing started.

Come on their about 150 if your luck. for a pair and the dude wants all four. come on you do the math. You don't need them. Unless he's running 400 plus and then he would have to change to a big brake kit and so on and so on. YOu get the picture.
