Sup peeps.. Well i got a issue i want to get to.
I have a 1990 Ef hatch ..
I formerly had a gsr in it but swaped it for
a stock b18a1 .. Initially i bought it do be my daily
beater.. But its been bugging me how healthy my ls motor really is..

According to some friends they feel my car pulls fine. I on the other
hand feel like the motor isnt giving everything its got. And yesterday
i might have proved my point. We were on the freeway last night and
i was with my friend with a dohc zc on a crx... Well we were on a roll and
we went for it. he jumped on me by like 3 cars.

Heres the thing, i feel like it pulls hard on first but as soon as i shift to 2nd.
it just doesnt feel right. I mean it doesnt bog or show any sings of lag. sounds
normal and strong. but i just feel weird about it..


Heres a thing. My car throws out white smoke. Not sure if its completely white
or with blue.. BUt it only smokes when i shift in high rpms.. Otherwise it wont
smoke at all... So say i pull on first and redline, than i slam it on 2nd i look in
my rear view and puff! lol...

Also the car overheats after a while.. It loses coolant. MY reserve tank starts
bubeling and spits out water through there

So Im taking i have a blown head gasket.. But heres where one of my questions
come in.. Even if it is my head gasket. Could it have enough effect on making my
car way slower? i know your losing compression but could it affect me that bad??..
I know it could also be bad piston rings. But im leaning towards the head gasket
since my block is kind of greasy(dry but greasy) and overheats.

Well plz leave some feedback or opinions..

Either way if i decide on changing the head gasket ima throw away the ls head and
put a b16 head..
I want to do a compression test but i want some feedback.. thanks in advanced;

 

I think that compression test is your best start, also do a coolant flush. I'm not going to say you're thermostat is done but it could be starting to go. Try a coolant flush because you may have blockage somewhere. What does the ZC have? I mean it pulls on you by 3 cars? That's very strange. That's usually what I do to them, lol.

 

smoke in high rpms could be valve seals...what rpms are you taking it to?
