Radio Cutting Out
Hi I have searched and looked into the FAQ but I couldnt find the reason to why my 2005 Honda Civic Special Edition radio is cutting out. Everything was working fine until today my radio would not play any music from the speakers. I can switch the channels and power on the radio although I cant here anything, at times it will come back on and play everything perfectly.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be?

i replaced the radio yesterday with a nice harness adapter. everything seemed to be working fine until my way home it cut off again. all the connections behind the dash seem perfect including the ground. I will be checking my door speakers but i dont know if this would be the cause to my problem. the radio goes off during hard bumps, and statics under small bumps.
I can't speak for factory radios but I installed an aftermarket that had the same issue. I was running the amps and head unit off a separate line from the battery. Found out the connection at the battery was loose. You could try making sure your battery connection is good and if the terminals are rusty, clean or replace them. Another possibility is broken speakers. If the speaker cone has separated from the driver structure (from excessive loud playing) then you will get distorted and intermittent sound especially at higher volumes.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

thanks for the response I checked out my connections for the speakers and turns out the rear speakers were once tapped for a line output convertor. The lines for the LOC were left discoonected and was causing a short, I tapped the ends with electrical tape and I haven't had a problem for a week. Only down side is I ended up buying a new headunit but it outperforms the stocker in many ways.
