there's lots of head units that fit, and lots that don't. any DIN sized unit will fit it's really the front faceplate / controls that become an issue. my radio fit fine, but because the face plate sticks so far off the front I modded my door to work with it. some of the pioneers that have the faceplates that slide down will be a problem also since there's nowhere for the plate to slide down to.

I have a JVC NX5000 and I love it, I think it's discontinued now though. http://support.jvc.com/consumer/prod...lId=MODL027893

I'd sell my HU and get this if it had Navi built in...

just make sure the front face plate doesn't have too much stuff that sticks out otherwise the door won't close - otherwise, most will fit - i went alpine so i could easily add an ipod.
For drop in speaker replacements, i went Infinity Kappa Components 5.1 - they work a charm.
I didn't want to add subs or amp on this car as i wanted to keep it light - loud enough for for now though and i like it loud.

there's lots of good speakers. I like my MB Quarts, I also like Polk stuff, I've heard good things about the newer JL Audio components. for subs I'm a huge fan of JL W6's and W7's. I just have one 10W6V2 and it fills the car with bass pretty well. it's funny, that sub in my CRX would rock but in the S with the sub way back in the trunk and the convertible top it's tough on bass. it's still enough output for me but not crazy loud.

for amps I like JL Amps, good power, sound, and options for the money. I have their 4 channel one to power the front components and my sub. it's got a remote **** option for the bass level which is nice and the fully variable crossover is nice, better than using the presets on the head unit since usually a preset number isn't exactly right.

if anything get the front door speakers and head unit first, depending on your taste in music and how loud you listen the sub might not be worth it.

i have pioneer head unit, alpine 4 channel amp running hertz exc and tweeters. also have alpine 650 mono amp running a 12 jlw3 with costom box and no more tool box crap. wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible. hits very hard. i had to pull out little peice of plastic behind seats. uhm hard to explain which peice it is. its the long skinny one that is like on the wall that seperates the trunk. it vibrated and was very annoying.

but for headunits i would go alpine if not running an amp. ive always had alpine head units and they are by far the best sounding headunit. they make the speakers have a very clear sound. if i had a choice id go alpine everything. but jl also have very nice stuff. and dont forget about MA audio they make awesome subs and amps for the best prices. like indestructable 15" subs for under $200 and 1600 watt amps for under $200.

well good luck. just dont buy wal mart stuff and you should be in good shape haha

One of the easier installs I've done. Running the lines to the trunk is cake b/c it's so short and you don't have to mess around with any rear seats. The plastic around the stereo just pulls straight off, it doesn't come easy @ first and almost feels like you are going to break it, then it releases.

Plug your stuff up, run your remote/rca's down one side, then your power down the other side.

Ground in the trunk, hook it up, voila.

adding amps and subs is more of a challenge though due to the small cabin

I'm running a JVC HDR-30 HU with both front and rear outputs bridged to the door speakers. Great HU with HD Radio, which is pritty prolific in Philly.

Running a pair of Polk Momo 6.5 woofers in the door with the stock tweeters. Got the woofers cheep off a friend that miswired his system and blew up his crossovers. Sounds great for what I use it for.

Its really amazing how much some stations improve on HD radio. The difference between AM and HD is like light and day, and the FM to HD basically makes everything sharper, cymbals and **** sound so much better.

I run a pioneer headunit, JL speakers in the headrests, stock speakers upfront as of now(gotta get a lil cash flow to replace the front ones), JL amp and a 12W1 and my system is pretty much perfect for me... not too much bass, love the surround sound, and it just sounds good... installs are cake on these cars so good luck and enjoy...

I have an alpine head unit ... easy swap for the oem.

I also got the custom trunkwell box for a 12" alpine sub from http://darksidesubs.com/ and couldn't be happier.
