Default 97 GSR with ES tunning muffler... TO LOUD..NEED ADVICE

Hey HT
I gott an Es tunning mufler the other day.....From what ive heard theyre suppose to be a quiet exhaust...just what ive heard.......My exhaust consists of stock headers, cat, and 2.5 inch piping all the way to the es mufler. I dont have an resonator on it.
My real problem is ITS FREKIN HELLA LOUD INSIDE THE CAR butt nice and quiet (just the way i like it outside the car). Can some one explain to me why it is like that. Heres a video of the sound..hopefully this will help somehow. Will welding in a resonator help quiet the noise thats inside the car.
I also heard about glasspack exhausts or however you call them...Can someone tell me more about what they do.
Heres the vid

Upgrades are on page 2
Thanks to all that helped me out.

I recently had a similiar problem. I got my vibrant flat black oval muffler and a 18 inch resonator (glass pack) put on. The rest of my exhaust consists of a cheap 4 to 1 header and factory cat. Even with the first resonator on the exhaust was still louder than I liked.

I had another 18 inch resonator welded on and that did the trick.

I recomend you try a resonator.

If you plan on getting a resonator, in which i suggest you do. Do not buy a glasspack, they may dampen the sound at first, but later on will get louder, and louder.

Get a good, LONG resonator from vibrant or magnaflow.

yeah just a simple resignator should do the trick and if its to quite after that you could do high flow cat or test pipe

I have used the glass pack on a few cars in the past without a problem.

Thanks guys .
I have a stock resonator from a gsr will it work on 2.5 inch piping. Would a stock resonator do the trick?
Heres a pic of the gsr resonator.

And yes my next exhaust upgrade is gonna be a test pipe that i will be making/welding myself.
If i putt on an testpipe. Would it mess up the o2 sensors or the one after the cat.......?

Or you could try dynamat or something similar under the carpet right along the exhaust tunnel... But I had the same issue and I wrapped my exhaust with thermo tech cooling wrap up to just under the rear seats and the problem stopped... But I also did this cause I pulled the stock heat shield out and my shifter started to burn my hand as I was driving lol... but if you want to cut and weld go with the Resonator

Since i have 2.5 inch piping and once i putt in an resonator then the straight pipe. will i lose alot of backpresure wich inturn equals less power............?

You shouldn't lose too much power with the resonator, it is a straight through design but is there to quite it down.

Can you use the stock resonator with 2.5" piping? I always assumed the stock resonator was a tube within a tube like most, and the GSR is more like 2.25" pipe. Or is the stock resonator completely hollow on the inside? If so you can cut the ends off more and weld it up.

I'm replacing the exhaust on my GSR, so I'd like to know as well...
