Default TRT 'Comptech' Replica Rear Lower Tie Bar Review

I just picked up this TRT 'Comptech' replica rear lower tie bar for the R. I was debating on picking it up from a seller on eBay since he doesn't have too much seller feedback. After about a month and a half, I decided to pick one up to replace my Comptech tie bar (which will be stored) after seeing comparison pictures of the Comptech and TRT bars provided by mojo_jojo77777. Shipping was a little slow to Hawaii via ground from Canada, but those on the mainland should get it sooner than my 3 weeks.

After I received the bar, I was surprised how much it compares to the Comptech bar. The quality is really great and the powdercoat job is tip top. The downside is he only offers the bar in red or blue, I wish he had either black or 'clear'.

Onto the pics of the bar itself...

Once I remove the Comptech bar, I will take pics to compare the two bars. For those who are interested in the bar who can't find the Comptech bar, his auction listing is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290275651075 (seller: civic14psi)

Update (4/4/09):

I installed the bar and it fits perfect like the Comptech bar. And the comparison between the two bars, Comptech (bottom) and TRT (top).

looks nice, so why are you storing the comptech bar? And is it actually powdercoated or anodized? from the picks looks like anodized

I'm storing it because it is a harder piece to find and I don't want to trash it. It already has some minor chips. It is anodized but the seller says it is powdercoated. Same coat as the Comptech bar.

Interesting, I didn't even know that there was a bar for that. My stock one is all bang'd up and due to theives, bent up(I bent it back).

Think he'd be willing to show us some stress analysis readings?

yeah, original comptech bars are getting harder to find. And I ended up with a TRT Bar, and it seems anodized to me. And yeah, I wish it were offered in "clear" but oh well, I kinda like how the red sticks out when you're driving.

Trust me, this bar wont bend. I was an idiot and tried to jack up the rear of my R with a floor jack (cuz car is too low to use the stock jack points, and I wasn't smart enough to use the rear tow hook instead) and it bent the stock lower tie bar. I believe because the stock bar is hollow and isnt really that strong. But this piece seems way more rigid.

Does anyone make the front 'subframe bar' that is aftermarket?(while we are on teh subject)

And thats a different stress point than throwing your r into a corner .

I know Comptech had theirs posted up and ASR has theirs posted up aswell.
