Short shifter install help on a dx 97

Short shifter install help on a dx 97
i have a friend that had a civic dx and he wants his short shifter put in so he is going to give a box for some 12s and i am going to put it in. I put a engine in my porsche 81 so I think that I can do this but I would like to know how thanks alot
